Privacy policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
- We collect only what TimTim needs to work: your account, your link to your partner and what you write in the app.
- What you keep private is visible only to you. Your answers to the weekly check-in and the question of the day are shared with your partner, and anything else only if you choose to share it.
- No ads, no tracking across other apps, and we never sell your data.
- Some features use AI. The text needed for them is sent to an AI provider to produce a reply, and we don't use it to train AI models.
- You can ask us to delete everything at any time.
Who we are
TimTim is made by Timur Akhmadullin (Tim Ahmadullin), an independent developer ("we", "us"). We are responsible for your personal data in TimTim and on timtimapp.com. For anything to do with your data, email hello@timtimapp.com.
What we collect
Your account
Your email address and sign-in details, the name you choose to show your partner, your time zone and a profile picture if you add one.
Your link to your partner
Which account you're paired with, the invitation codes used to connect you and, if you enter it, your partner's email address.
What you create in the app
Your answers to check-ins and questions, what you write in "I Need to Vent" and the rewritten versions, messages you choose to share, voice notes and photos if you add them, your date wishes and your choices on date ideas, and your shared progress (sparks and your shared home).
Technical information
Our hosting providers keep standard server logs, such as IP address, device or browser type and time of access, to keep the service secure and working. We don't use advertising identifiers or third-party analytics, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
This website
timtimapp.com doesn't use cookies or analytics. Our hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver the pages to you.
Our online relationship check-up
If you take our online check-up, we store your scores, a safety indicator (but not your detailed answers to the safety questions), the phone number you leave and the campaign tags in the link you followed.
How we use it
- To run TimTim for you and your partner, for example to show you both the shared summary of your weekly check-in.
- To create AI summaries, rewrites and date ideas when you use those features.
- To keep TimTim safe, including an automatic check in "I Need to Vent" that holds a message back from your partner and shows you where to get help if it suggests you may not be safe.
- To answer your messages and fix problems.
- To understand how TimTim is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
How we use AI
The weekly check-in summary, rewriting in "I Need to Vent" and date ideas use an AI model. For these features, the text they need is sent to the model through an AI gateway service, and the reply is sent back to you. We currently use Claude, made by Anthropic. We don't use your content to train AI models, and AI is never used to make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects.
Who can see your data
- Your partner sees what you choose to share, your answers to the weekly check-in and the question of the day, and the results of things you do together. Anything you keep private is visible only to you.
- Us: we can technically access the database, and we do so only when needed to support you, keep the service safe or fix a problem.
- Our service providers, listed below, process data only to provide their service to us.
- We may disclose data if the law requires it. We never sell your data, and there are no ads in TimTim.

Some of these countries, including Russia and the United States, are outside the UK and the EU and may not offer the same level of data protection. Russia in particular is not recognised by the UK or the EU as providing adequate protection. We are working to move the AI gateway and the web app hosting out of Russia.
Our legal bases
If UK or EU data protection law applies to you, we rely on:
- Contract: to provide TimTim when you sign up and use it.
- Explicit consent for sensitive information. What you write may reveal things such as your health or your sex life. We process it only to provide the features you choose to use. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your content or your account.
- Legitimate interests: to keep TimTim secure, fix problems and improve it.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content: for as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and your content within 30 days.
- Online check-up results: for up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Server logs are kept by our providers for a limited period under their own policies.
- AI providers may keep the text sent to them for a limited period under their own terms.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, send it to you in a portable format, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent. Email hello@timtimapp.com and we'll reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, for example the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.
Children
TimTim is for adults aged 18 and over. It isn't designed for children, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access rules in our database mean that couple data is available only to the two people in that couple, and private entries only to their author.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app.
